Jhpiego expert to speak on introducing learning technologies in low-resource settings

14 February 2008

Mr. James BonTempo, Jhpiego Application Systems Manager, will be a speaker at the 2008 New Learning Technology Conference, which will be held from 20-22 February in Orlando, Florida.

The conference, hosted by the Society for Applied Learning Technology, brings together senior professionals from government, industry, academia and the military to present the latest developments in the field of learning and training technologies.

BonTempo will discuss strategies for meeting the technological and human challenges faced when introducing blended learning strategies into universities in low-resource settings. Several themes in identifying and establishing e-learning systems will be covered.

As a case study, he will talk about Jhpiego's work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support learning technology needs at three medical universities in Ethiopia.

BonTempo is a systems development expert with over 10 years' experience in all aspects of the systems development life-cycle, including the management of human and material resources, quality assurance, architecture and implementation. He provides key technical and management support to international health care programs and supports Jhpiego’s organizational IT infrastructure.
