Overview:
The Chief of Party (COP) will provide the overall vision, direction, leadership, and management to an upcoming five-year USAID award that will focus on strengthening malaria prevention and control in Nigeria. The COP will oversee program operations and ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of program activities. The COP will develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with project partners and country stakeholders, be responsible for ensuring that the project reporting requirements are met, and manage the donor relationship. The offer of this position will be contingent upon Jhpiego’s receipt of award.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the administrative framework to monitor and assure progress toward the achievement of the program’s goals and objectives
- Responsible for the overall planning, implementation and management of the program and ensuring the program’s administrative and financial integrity
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, RBM partners and donors.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project activities and results to USAID
- Present project progress, achievements and lessons learned to key stakeholders including donor and RBM partners
- Provide strategic oversight and management of subcontractors.
- Supervise several key members of staff
- Work with technical and programmatic leads to ensure effective implementation of program goals and objectives
- Work with finance and project staff to develop and track project budgets
- Work with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) staff to develop M&E frameworks and effectively track data/results
- Represent the project in all matters pertaining to the execution of program-related activities.
- Represent the project at malaria partners’ forums and at other coordinating activities
- Work closely with Jhpiego home office staff to ensure effective, timely, and coordinated implementation of project
Qualifications and Requirements
- Clinical and/or management degree with post-graduate training in public health
- 15+ years of senior-level management experience of complex international health programs
- Proven track record managing a project team composed of several technical experts, project, finance and administrative staff
- Proven ability to manage complex, high-demand projects
- Proven leadership skills, as well as expertise in strategic program planning, implementation and management
- Familiarity with major Malaria interventions
- Excellent team building skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Work experience in Nigeria
- Understanding of USAID regulations and compliance
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to travel in Nigeria and Internationally
