Location:Gaborone, Botswana

Overview:

Pre-Service Education Advisor needed for Jhpiego’s Pre-service Education and Workforce wellness for Health Workers project funded by CDC. The project will provide technical assistance to strengthen the Government of Botswana’s health workforce wellness program and its ability to provide state of the art, high quality pre-service education for HIV prevention, treatment and care services. The Advisor will provide support to the overall program strategy development, incorporating mastery learning and competency-based training techniques and will attempt to reach the widest possible base of future members of the health system.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership to pre-service education activities in liaison with the Baltimore Technical Leadership office.
  • Conduct trainings, meetings, and workshops as required
  • Play a key role in local capacity building
  • Participate in the development of workplans, implementation and training plans, quarterly reports and other project deliverables
  • Carry out essential functions of Project Director when she is unavailable, including represent Jhpiego to donors and partners

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Clinical degree or advanced degree in public health or related discipline
  • 7+ years’ experience as a trainer
  • 5+ years of HIV/AIDS program experience
  • Fluency in both English and Setswana
  • Extensive experience in Botswana
  • Computer literacy; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Internet
  • Previous experience in working with an international organization will be an added advantage.
